Philosophy of Care

Aims of the Home

Our aims are to provide a comprehensive range of quality services to our residents 24 hours a day and to ensure that their individual needs are identified and met in the most appropriate way, by staff who are well motivated, trained and qualified in their work.

Our fees cover the following services:

Our Statement of Purpose has been produced in line with the requirements of the legislation and guidance that we are measured by. It includes information about how we are to meet the standards for Older People as set by our registering authority, the Care Quality Commission.

End of Life Care

We aim to provide end of life care in a warm and passionate manner which demonstrates professionalism, giving support, respect, (love), kindness and finally prioritising the pass-over in a spiritually contented, as peaceful a time for all of those involved in that person’s end of life.

Staff Team

Durnsford Lodge employs over thirty staff consisting of a Registered Manager, Deputy Manager, senior carers, carers, two activities co-ordinators, two cleaners and two cooks. The majority of staff have NVQ’s or are working towards gaining Diploma’s in Health and Social Care. Most of the staff have worked at Durnsford for several years. Each staff member has been carefully selected for their experience in care and general aptitude

Our staff receives mandatory training with regular updates which enables them to carry out their role confidently and effectively. Staff are encouraged to work towards gaining qualifications in all aspects of care to help them provide a good quality care to all service users.

The owner and registered manager have good relationships with the staff and are able to keep a good working atmosphere within the home.

All new staff are instructed in all of the procedures employed at the home and encouraged to attend courses to improve their further education in the care sector.

All are staff hold or are currently working towards gaining Diploma's in care. Our Care Manager holds NVQ 4 and her ILMA Diploma Level 5 in management. All staff receives mandatory training with regular updates which enables them to carry out their role confidently and effectively, Staff are encouraged to work towards gaining qualifications in all aspects of care to help them provide a good quality care to all service users.

We combine the highest standards of care with the best principles of active rehabilitation, working with individuals and family members to achieve quality of life. We provide personal care but not nursing care, we have a full range of equipment to aid those who have mobility problems.
